Jamaican Fried Dumplings (Recipe Recap)

On April 27, I posted a wonderful Jamaican Dinner that I ate on that day. Recently, I spent some time making Jamaican fried dumplings and it is traditionally made to go with this meal. They have a natural sweetness, very crispy on the outside, and extremely soft on the inside. This recipe is extremely easy to put together. You could make this with any meal like a Caribbean Stew Chicken, Stew Fish with Rice, Pelau, or Soups. After making these delicious dumplings I prefer eating them by itself with a little bit of melted butter. If you want to try this recipe I have the ingredients below and easy directions to follow.

Fried Dumplings

2 1/4 cup All Purpose Flour (Plain Flour)

3/4 cup Cornmeal

2 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 – 3/4 tsp Salt

3 tbsp Sugar

1 cup Milk

1 tsp Cinnamon

Oil for Frying NOTE: Measure oil to deep fry dumplings

  1. Mix all ingredients together to form a dough.
  2. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  3. After it has risen make it into 12 small dough balls.
  4. Let the dough balls rest for 12 minutes.
  5. When the 12 minutes is done then you can start to deep fry.
  6. While frying the dumplings have to be golden brown. NOTE: You can open a dumpling to make sure the inside is fully cooked.

Shrimp Alfredo Pasta

To start off my first blog post I have decided to make a quick simple dish which is a Shrimp pasta with Four Cheese Alfredo Sauce. This dish took at least one hour to make using budget friendly ingredients. When I tried the Shrimp Alfredo Pasta it was creamy, cheesy, and oh so delicious! I would have the listed ingredients and directions listed below. Feel free to add a comment on this dish.

1/2 box of Angel Hair pasta

1 pack of Frozen Cooked Medium Shrimp 12 oz. (Peel, Deveined)

1 Whole Yellow Onion (chop 1/4 of an onion)

2 or 3 cloves of garlic

1 jar of Four Cheese Alfredo Sauce

1 bottle of Pinot Grigio (optional)

1 package of Mushrooms (as many as you want)

  1. Boil 1/2 box of Angel Hair Pasta for 10 minutes. Pasta should be tender or al dente. Drain and keep pasta in a colander. Do not rinse using cold water.
  2. Empty entire bag of shrimp in a bowl and rinse through. Set aside.
  3. Chop 1/4 of an onion (cubed finely). Set aside.
  4. Take a grater and minse about 2 or 3 cloves of garlic (should be garlic paste texture). Set aside.
  5. In a skillet pan, set on medium heat, add 1 teaspoon of butter, saute onion and garlic (1 or 2 minutes), add shrimp cook until lightly browned.
  6. Pour 3/4 cup or 1 teaspoon of Pinot Grigio (optional). This would help the shrimp to become more flavorful.
  7. Add mushrooms and Four Cheese Alfredo Sauce. Stir and allow everything to cook thoroughly for a few minutes.
  8. When the sauce is completed add pasta to the skillet.
  9. Finally, you can sprinkle Parmesean cheese and garnish with parsley.
  10. Before serving allow the food to set for 3 minutes and Enjoy!
